At 17:28 on July 20th, 2016, in Istanbul, Unit #4 of Setes III 2×660MW Coal-fired Power Plant in Turkey constructed by HEI on EPC basis passed 168-hour full-load trial run test; the unit ran smoothly, all the parameters met the design requirements and the output of electricity fully conformed to the production indicators required by local grid, marking that Unit #4 has been fully completed and officially put into commercial operation.
The Turkey Zetes III Project is a 2-unit 660MW supercritical thermal power project contracted on January 23rd, 2013, and a project which marks HEI’s first operation in Turkey’s thermal power market. Commenced in October 2014, the construction of #4 Unit took 22 months from its commencement to its handover for commercial operation, setting a historic record for the shortest construction period of a 600MW-class unit in Turkey. During its construction, HEI overcame such difficulties as a tight construction deadline, small site, delays in the civil works and so on to successfully complete a series of major milestones such as the boiler hydraulic test, power backfeeding, boiler chemical cleaning, boiler steam blowing, turbine casing covering and more, winning the high trust and recognition of the Owner. At 17:28 on July 13th, the unit starts its 168-hour trial run, during which representatives from HEI, the owner, and sub-contractors remained at the site on 24-hour duty to closely monitor various operating data, guarantee the safe and reliable operation of the unit and raise its load rate to the international first-class standard.
The successful completion of Unit #4 of Setes III Project lays a solid foundation for HEI to deeply develop the Turkish market and made contributions to the national ‘One Belt and One Road’ initiative.
