On July 28, 2017, the Indonesian Banten 670MW Supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant Project contracted by HEI got the Project Taking Over Certificate (TOC) issued by Mr. TS Ong, Genting Energy’s CEO at the headquarters located in Kuala Lumpur, marking the successful completion of the construction phase. The project warranty period was officially valid from April 22, 2017 when TOC came into effect and it would last for two years.

Banten is the first project in the five-year 35,000 MW electric power plan (2015-2019) launched by the Indonesian government, and also the only IPP power plant project to be put into commercial operation. The Project is invested by Genting Group and China National Investment Power Holdings Co., Ltd. and undertaken by HEI as EPC contractor. The Project was deemed as a landmark of “Made in China” and “Built by China” because main equipment were designed and manufactured by HE Group, and main construction participation companies were Chinese state-owned enterprises. The Project officially commenced on December 10, 2013, synchronized for power generation on February 13, 2017, and put into commercial operation on March 28, 2017. It successfully passed the 30-day continuous reliability test on April 16, 2017.

Mr. TS Ong gave full affirmation to HEI’s unremitting efforts and excellent services for smooth project progress, and expressed his hope to carry out further cooperation with HEI on Banten Phase II. The successful completion of the Project has given a full demonstration to “China Speed” and “China Quality”, further raised the reputation of HEI in the overseas electricity market and made great contributions to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
