Recently, news of success keeps pouring in from Pakistan Balloki 1223MW Combined Cycle Project contracted by HEI. Unit 2 of the project was successfully ignited for the first time on July 27, 2017 and it was successfully synchronized for power generation with full load on August 1. All the indexes of the unit were favorable. It took only 64 days from when #2 Gas Turbine was placed in position to when it was successfully ignited and it took only 69 days from when #2 Gas Turbine was placed in position to when it was synchronized for power generation, setting new world records again. Meanwhile, 1# gas turbine successfully passed 7-day reliability test on July 31 only at one time, whose performance was far beyond the agreed guarantee value in the contract.

The Balloki 1223MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project and the Bhikki 1180 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project are two of the three major projects jointly developed by the Pakistan government and the Government of Punjab. The two projects are both equipped with 9HA gas turbine units manufactured by GE. The whole plant is equipped with two 9HA turbines, two heat recovery steam generators and one steam turbine generator unit. The two projects are completely EPC-based turnkey projects. Upon completion, the two projects will add 2400MW of electric power to the Pakistan’s national grid, greatly easing the power shortage.
