The first batch of barges for the Dubai Hassyan Project Hassyan Project contracted by HEI has been undocked successfully. The outfitting, mooring test and trial voyage will be conducted in Xiamen before the delivery. This is the very first time for HEI to be involved in ship engineering in an international power plant EPC project.

Due to the shallow water at the Hassyan Project, after the fuel coal of the power plant is transported by oceangoing bulk cargo ships to an offshore place, a barge fleet is needed to transfer the coal onto the shore. The entire barge fleet consists of four 5,800 DWT deck barges, two 48t floating cranes and one auxiliary tugboat. The 5,800 DWT deck barge is 102.9m in overall length and 24.6m in width, with a draught 3.8m. With four electric rudder propellers, it has excellent maneuverability in shallow channels. The 48t floating crane is 64.2m in overall length and 24m in width and the lifting height is 35m. The fleet will be delivered to the site in Dubai in two shipments by January 2019.

The Employer from Dubai is demanding in respect of environmental protection, lightering capacity, quality control and delivery period for coal transit system. In order to ensure successful completion of the Project, HEI has closely cooperated with Louis Dreyfus Company of France, effectively implemented various management requirements of the Hassyan Project on the lightering system, strictly controlled the design quality and construction period and participated in shipbuilding factory inspection. HEI and Louis Dreyfus Company have jointly established a construction supervision team, successfully conducted the construction inspection of the underwater parts of the barges in the shipyard of Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. and successfully undocked the first two deck barges and the first floating crane.
