Bangladesh Barapukuria 275MW Coal-fired Power Project Handed over 5 Months Ahead of Schedule

On May 27, 2018, the PAC certificate was officially issued by the Employer of the Bangladesh Barapukuria 275MW Coal-fired Power Project manufactured and contracted by HE, marking the completion of the unit infrastructure construction period and the formal transition to the warranty and production period. The certificate stated that the effective date of the PAC is February 10, 2018, which is 5 months ahead of the construction completion date specified in the main contract.

The Barapukuria Project is the largest coal-fired unit project in operation of Bangladesh up to now. The boilers, steam turbines and turbine generators are made by HE and the auxiliary machines and equipment are provided by Chinese suppliers. Therefore, it is a typical project of “Made in China” and “Constructed by China”.

The work scope of the project includes the design, procurement, construction and commissioning. The construction period is three years, the warranty period is two years and the long-term service period is five years. The project was officially started on July 16, 2015 when the contract came into force. The 42-day reliability test run and performance test was completed on February 9, 2018 and the PAC became effective on February 10, 2018.

The five month ahead of schedule handover of the Barapukuria Project has reflected the excellent performance of the units “made by HE”, the constantly-improving “HE quality”, the efficient “HE speed” and the brand value of “creating quality product and winning praises for HE”.

Up to now, the units of the project is operating properly and high praised by the Bangladesh Employer. HE will continue to carry out subsequent work, fulfill the quality and quantity requirements and spare no effort in ensuring the stable operation of the units.
