Kick-off Meeting for Indonesian 670MW BANTEN Thermal Power Plant

January 19, 2013: Kick-off Meeting for BANTEN TPP, the first cooperative project between Harbin Electric International Co., Ltd. (HEI) and Genting Energy took place in Indonesia. Attendees to the meeting included Mr. Wu Weizhang President of Harbin Electric Company Limited (HECL), Mr. Guo Yu Chairman of HEI, Mr. Dong Yinzhu Vice President of HEI, relevant leaders from local government authority, and relevant leaders from PT. Lestari Banten Energy.

10:30 a.m.: The kick-off meeting for BANTEN TPP officially started with a Muslim prays ceremony. On the meeting, the relevant leaders from local government authorities and PT. Lestari Banten Energi addressed the attendees. Mr. Wu Weizhang, Vice President of HECL also delivered his speech. President Wu first extended his congratulations on the successful kick-off of BANTEN Project. Wu said the fact that it took only three months to achieve the kick-off of BANTEN Project after contract signing had demonstrated the efficiency of the strong combination of two international companies, and such project would render, at the earliest, the power support to Indonesian people for their better lives. Wu emphasized that HECL had accumulated rich project experiences, developed a group of international engineering talents, and had established deep friendship with the people of Indonesia through participating in the building of several thermal power projects such as Paiton, Awar Awar, and Muyin in Indonesia. As Wu mentioned, HECL would produce the best power equipment and offer the best engineering service to BANTEN Project to ensure the its future successful commercial operation. Wu also expressed his confidence in building BANTEN Project to an exemplary project in the power industry of Indonesia and such project would contribute a lot to the development of local economy and the improvement of people’s lives. BANTEN Project would be the starting point for the more extensive and deeper cooperation between HECL and Genting Group.

Afterwards, all the people present witnessed the ground-breaking together, which signified the official commencement of execution of BANTEN Project.

BANTEN Project is located in the north of Western Java of Banten Province, 120 kilometers off the capital city, Jakarta. The geographic location is convenient for sea transportation. The total installed capacity is 670MW. BANTEN Project is the first cooperative EPC project between HEI and Genting Energy. It is also another large-scale thermal power project HEI has contracted after Paiton Project. The current successful kick-off meeting laid a solid foundation for future good execution of BANTEN Project.
