On April 5th, 2016 (local time), HEI held the completion ceremony for Subsystem B of the HEI-contracted Ecuador 500kV Transmission Line Project. The President of Ecuador Mr. Rafael Correa Delgado attended the ceremony, together with the Minister of the Ecuador Electricity Department, the General Manager of the Ecuador National Electric Company and Deputy General Manager of HEI Mr. Yang Qingli.

Before the ceremony, the President of Ecuador, accompanied by Mr. Yang Qingli, visited the INGA Transformer Substation. At the ceremony, President Mr. Rafael Correa Delgado gave a lively speech, in which he emphasized the outstanding contributions made by HEI to the electricity industry of Ecuador, and sincerely appreciated the efforts and dedication of every HEI employer.

The construction of INGA Transformer Substation was commenced on March 5th, 2014, and was put into use and started transmitting power on March 5th, 2016. It is a milestone with great significance to the entire project, and is the benchmark model for the other power plants that are still under construction, and also indicates the direction for follow-up work, defect elimination and the handover.

It is understood that the Ecuador 500kV Transmission Line Project is the supporting project for the Anne Sinclair Hydropower Station, which is the largest hydropower project in Latin America. The power generated by the Anne Sinclair Hydropower Station will be distributed to Quito and the northern provinces through this transmission line, and be further extended to Guayaquil and the southern provinces.
