Following the successful hoisting of the first unit rotor of the Minas Hydropower Project, Ecuador undertaken by HEI on January 15, 2017, the generator rotor of the unit No. 2 also successfully hoisted in one go at 12:05 local time, March 24, marking the installation of the Minas Project No. 2 unit entering into the final stage of assembly. Vice Minister Mr. Alfredo Samaniego of Electricity Ecuador and President Mr. Luis Ruales of CELEC EP attended the rotor hoisting ceremony and spoke highly of the achievements made by HEI in the Minas Project.

In order to guarantee the success and safety of the rotor hoisting, the Minas Project Department of HEI earnestly carried out related convergence work, repeatedly examining, studying and optimizing the hoisting scheme and construction environment with the owner, owner’s engineer, and relevant engineers, requesting subcontractors at times to carry out detailed safety and technical disclosures to operators, sparing no efforts to ensure the successful hoisting of the No. 2 rotor. The rotor of the Minas Hydropower Project, Ecuador weighs around 180 tons and the maximum hoisting diameter of the generator rotor is 4.606 m, with a height of 8.045 m. It was hoisted by a 250T bridge crane. The hoisting work was carried out by the book, including the directing and installation. The crane operating personnel worked synergistically, ensuring that all working procedures such as lifting, adjustment, alignment and hoisting connected fluidly. At 12:05, the rotor reached the preset position accurately. The No. 2 unit rotor was successfully hoisted in one go, laying a solid foundation for the scheduled operation and generation of the unit.
