The No. 1 unit of the Bhikki 1180MW Combined Cycle Power Station Project, Pakistan undertaken by HEI was successfully synchronized at 19:56 on March 9, 2017 local time in Pakistan and it achieved operation at a full load of 408MW. The unit ran steadily with positive readings and was thereby deemed ready for reliability test run.
The Pakistan Bhikki Project is an EPC turnkey project concluded between HEI and Pakistan Quaid-E-Azam Electric Power Company and is the first 209HA model “H” combined cycle power station project with the largest capacity undertaken by a Chinese enterprise overseas and the world’s highest efficiency. The project has a total installed capacity of 1180MW and the main turbine utilizes the 9HA.01 heavy-duty gas turbine, which is GE Power’s most advanced and the world’s most efficient product of its kind. Located about 60 km to the west of Lahore, Punjab Province, Pakistan, the project started on September 22, 2015. The No. 1 unit was completed after 17 and a half months and has been synchronized, creating a milestone in the history of heavy-duty gas turbine power station construction and having epoch-making significance for future construction and operation of efficient heavy-duty gas turbine power stations.
