At 11:30 on December 10, 2017, local time in Dubai, the “Ceiling outlet collector” of No. 1 boiler of Dubai Hassyan 4×600MW Clean Coal-fired Power Plant contracted by Harbin Electric International Company Limited (“HEI”) was first hoisted and placed to the right position and the installation of the heating surface started officially.

As a key project responding to “the Belt and Road”, the Hassyan project will guarantee the electric power supply for the Dubai World Expo 2020. This project has adopted the highest standard in the world and it uses both natural gas and clean coal. Each of the two is 100% the standby energy source of the other. HEI steadily promotes the project construction strictly in accordance with the plan and implements the standard HSE management. With a weight of 18.6t, the ceiling outlet collector of No. 1 boiler heating surface of the Hassyan project was lifted by an 80T level-buffing crane to an height of 5.7m. An elevator was used to lift people so that they can install the lifting frame. Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. (“TEPC”), one of the sub-contractors of the Hassyan project, performed construction safety and technology disclosure for the integral hoisting operation before the ceiling outlet collector was lifted for installation. The Engineering Department, the Quality Department and the engineers from GE checked the cleanness in the collector again by using endoscopes. In the course of lifting, the Owner of the Hassyan project, HEI and TEPC prepared safety control measures at the site and guaranteed the safe and successful implementation of the construction. Besides, a new construction technology was adopted for installation of the heating surface. The boiler was separated into two parts and installed separately based on features of the front and rear hearths. For the front hearth, 4 hydraulic lifting devices (8 330t+8 220t) were placed at BB, BC, BD and BE column heads, and A, B, C and D plate beams and the devices such as the water cooled wall, the superheater for extended side wall, the high temperature superheater, the high temperature reheater, the rear platen superheater, the separating plate superheater, the roof superheater and the reinforcing beam were gradually lifted to the position as a whole.

HEI has expressed that it intends to build the Hassyan project into an excellent project. The completion of the Hassyan project will provide precious experience for the Chinese enterprises carrying out extra-large projects in the Middle East.
