Up to 17:00 on November 3, 2017, local time in Mongolia, all the four units of the 4X12MW Steam Turbine Generator Unit Expansion Project for the captive power plant of the Mongolian Erdenet Copper Mine contracted by HEI had passed the 72-hour reliability trial run assessment. The units had operated smoothly and reliably, all the parameters had met the relevant requirements and the power generation capacity had met the production requirements issued by the Mongolian State Grid, marking the successful completion of the construction task of the four units.

The Mongolian Erdenet Project is the symbolic project of the "Belt and Road" Initiative connecting China and Mongolia and it is also the first EPC project contracted by HEI in Mongolia. Adhering to the concept of “constructing a monument while building a power plant”, HEI has overcome many difficulties such as language difficulties, winter transportation and human resources problems, accomplished the civil works, installation and system commissioning of the project ahead of schedule and laid a solid foundation for the successful synchronization and power generation. HEI’s work has won high trust of the owner and has been highly accepted by the owner. The four units of the project were entered the 72-hour reliability test run in two batches at 17:00 on October 30, 2017 and at 17:00 on October 31, 2017 respectively. HEI and all the project participating Parties closely monitored all the operating parameters 24 hours every day by turns and ensured the safe and reliable operation of the units and successfully accomplished the full load trial run assessment.

The successful accomplishment of the four units of the Mongolian Erdenet Project has laid a solid foundation for the deep Mongolian market exploration of HEI and contributed the power of HE to China’s construction of the Belt and Road.

The construction of the Mongolian Erdenet Project officially started in May 2016. All the civil works, installation and system commissioning of the project were completed and the units are ready to be synchronized to the grid in August 2017. On October 26, 2017, Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the project were synchronized to the grid. On October 28, 2017, Unit 3 and Unit 4 of the project were synchronized to the grid. At present, the project has become the third largest power plant project in Mongolia, which has important significance to promoting the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and the economic and trade cooperation between China and Mongolia.
