On September 3, 2018, the Turkey Zetes Phase III 2×660MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project undertaken by HEI as one of the quality power plant projects for the Belt and Road Initiative, with the main units manufactured by Harbin Electric Corporation, was completed successfully and the final acceptance certificate (FAC) issued by the Employer EREN. The certificate came into effect on August 31, 2018. 

The Zetes Phase III Project is the first major project in the European market undertaken by a Chinese EPC contractor under the Belt and Road Initiative, and it is also the first project after HEI successfully entered the high-end thermal power market of Turkey. The EPC contract was signed for the project on January 23, 2013 and it came into effect in January 2014 for commencement of the project construction. The project adopts HEI 660MW supercritical thermal power units, and the wet flue gas desulfurization device and SCR denitration device are constructed at the same time. The electric bag filter is used for dust removal and the condenser adopts open circulation cooling method of direct cooling of sea water. In June, 2016, the first unit of the project was synchronized for power generation, the TOC certificates for two units were received in September and the PAC certificate issued by the Employer in January 2017. The construction period has set a record for the shortest construction time of two 600MW units in Turkey.

Completion of the Zetes Phase III Power Plant has greatly alleviated the local shortage of power. From the synchronization of the project for power generation to the end of the warranty period, the power generated by Unit #4 is 9,219,247MWH, about 9.22 billion kWh, and the power generated by Unit #5 is 9,219,247MWH, about 9.3 billion kWh. On May 2, 2018, the project was granted the Best Thermal Power Project Award at the 24th International Energy and Environment Exhibition held in Istanbul, Turkey, laying a solid foundation for HEI to further explore the Turkish market.  

 “Jointly developing the Belt and Road, creating overseas quality projects” is the foothold of HEI in its exploration of the international market. The successful completion of the Zetes Phase III Project is a generous gift of HEI for promoting the Belt and Road Initiative. HEI will construct more quality projects under this initiative, create “China miracles” with the “HE speed” and highlight the “name card of China” with “made by HE”.
