The Nairyah 2 project team has established a deep university-enterprise partnership with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia, launching the “Future Energy · Young Craftsmen Red Bridge Program” to create a dedicated fast-track channel for academic-industry collaboration. The program offers outstanding local students invaluable opportunities for on-site exchange visits and internships at the Nairyah 2 project, helping them build practical engineering experience before graduation and effectively enhancing their employability.

The project’s technical team visited KFUPM for in-depth discussions with the Dean and faculty of the Control and Instrumentation Engineering Department, gaining insight into cutting-edge postgraduate research topics. The team also delivered a dedicated technical seminar on combined-cycle power plant technology for undergraduate students, fostering integration among industry, academia, and research.

Through this university-enterprise collaboration, Harbin Electric International (HEI) has not only injected fresh innovative energy into the project, but also made a concrete contribution to developing locally rooted energy professionals in Saudi Arabia—actively supporting the human resource development goals set out under Saudi Vision 2030.
What was once a stretch of road shrouded in darkness has become a safe, well-lit corridor for nighttime travel. More than 140 trees growing against the odds in the harsh desert continue to carry a message of sustainable development to all who pass by. Newly installed safety warning signs along the highway have brought about a marked improvement in public road safety. A newly built cell tower has resolved longstanding connectivity issues that had plagued the surrounding area for years. These are changes that can be seen and felt. They are a vivid reflection, on foreign soil, of HEI's corporate spirit: “committed and striving, innovative and transcendent, cooperative and mutually beneficial, faithful to every commitment, and green in every endeavor.” They prove that truly great engineering is not merely a matter of steel and concrete—it is also the practice of human care and sustainable development. Through this series of sincere and pragmatic actions, HEI has not only ensured the smooth progress of the project, but has also planted the DNA of responsibility deep into the soil of Saudi Arabia, forging an international brand that resonates with people and commands genuine respect. In doing so, HEI has contributed a steadfast and warmhearted “HEI strength” to deepening energy cooperation and the strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia.
With this desert power station as its center, HEI will continue to expand the breadth and depth of its corporate social responsibility, allowing the impact of responsible action to reach far beyond the boundaries of the project itself. It sends a message to the world: behind every kilowatt-hour of electricity lies not only the power of technology, but the transmission of values; behind every patch of green that grows lies not only nature’s gift, but a testament to responsibility. HEI writes its answer through action—when engineering rigor and human warmth intertwine in the desert, a power station can become a window for mutual learning between civilizations, a witness to shared growth, and a portrait of our times for the Belt and Road Initiative: one with a backbone of steel and a pulse of warmth.
