17 January 2012: HEI’s President Guo Yu met with the visiting Ambassador of Ecuador, Leonardo Arízaga and his wife at the Youyi Gong Hotel.

Guo cordially welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Arízaga on behalf of HEI. He expressed his thanks to the Government of Ecuador for its support in the recent two contracts’ signing between HEI and Ecuador State Power Company (CELEC EP).The mentioned projects were HEI’s first two projects contracted in South America, having great significance in HEI’s development. Guo said that HEI would cherish this opportunity and build an excellent power plant for the Ecuadorian people. Guo also stated his wishes that both parties could develop more extensive and deeper cooperation in the future.

Leonardo Arízaga noted that the bilateral relations between Ecuador and the People’s Republic of China are excellent, and Ecuador has become one of China’s most important trading partners which have attracted lots of investment from China. Nine power projects have been signed between the Government of Ecuador and Chinese companies in the past two years, including the two important projects signed with HEI. The Ambassador also pointed out that the conditions of the agreements reached had to be fully fulfilled, the impact on the environment should be kept at the minimum. He hoped HEI could participate more and more in Ecuador’s power development in the future. After the meeting, Mr. and Mrs. Arízaga attended HEI’s annual Spring Festival Gala.

Chief Marketing Officer - Ge Xin, Director of Power Transmission & Distribution Division - Wang Jianjun, Director of Hydropower Division - Zhang Yong, and Deputy General Manager of the 1st Marketing Department, Marketing Division – Liang Guangqing also attended the meeting.
