April 10, 2013, Harbin Electric International Co., Ltd (HEI) and GE Power & Water signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Beijing, beginning a strategic cooperation between the two parties.

Attendees to the signing ceremony include: Chairman and President of HEI, Guo Yu, Vice President, Yang Qingli, Vice President Wang Shimin, and from GE, Vice President of General Electric Company and President of Global Sales for GE Power & Water, James N. Suciu, President of the Greater Chinese Region of GE, Xia Zhicheng, President of Global Operations, John Reinker, Vice President of Global Operations, Brian P. Ray, the EPC Account executive Leader, Karine Brosse, General Manager of the EPC Team, China, Yang Chengwen, and other senior managers from different regions of the world. HEI Vice President Wang Shimin and GE Power & Water EPC Account executive Leader Karine Brosse signed the MoU on behalf of both parties.

Both sides engaged in in-depth discussion, exchanging views on the dynamics of the global energy and power market, joint investment and the development of overseas energy market, expanding channels for financing as well as other issues relating to the strategic cooperation between the two sides. Both parties came to a consensus on the establishment of a consortium and jointly developing a global high-end power market as well as investing in new energy, such as wind power. A joint work team has also been established. In order to strengthen the development in the high-end power market, HEI will utilize GE’s new; high-performance gas turbine and both parties will work together and participate jointly in bidding for high-end power projects, constantly meeting clients’ requirements in the high-end power market. The close cooperation between HEI and GE will certainly bring brighter market prospects. The two sides also engaged in in-depth discussion and reached consensus upon business related future marketing promotion.

HEI and GE have a long history of cooperation in the field of EPC project contracting. As the gas turbine supplier, GE has provided high-quality and efficient equipment for many overseas projects contracted by HEI. The signing of this MoU marks an optimistic beginning for the comprehensive cooperation between both parties, laying a solid foundation for the two sides to further deepen their friendships and bring their cooperation to a new level. Cooperation between the two parties will certainly accelerate both companies’ development, promoting HEI’s position in international EPC contracting, and also contributing to the establishment of HEI’s leading role in the international EPC market!
