On July 12 local time in Uzbekistan, major progress was achieved at the Uzbekistan Syrdarya II 1,600 MW Natural Gas-Fired Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, a key energy project under the Belt and Road Initiative and an EPC project undertaken by Harbin Electric International (HEI). The turbine generator unit successfully completed its first steam admission, turbine rolling to rated speed, and grid connection all within a single day. The unit was smoothly synchronized with Uzbekistan’s national grid, demonstrating the robust performance of HEI’s equipment and its highly efficient integrated commissioning capabilities, and delivering another outstanding example of HEI’s overseas project excellence.

At 13:25 on the same day, steam admission to the turbine commenced, and the commissioning team carried out the required procedures in accordance with the commissioning plan; at 18:45, the unit successfully reached its rated speed of 3,000 rpm, completing the speed-setting process; following the successful completion of relevant electrical tests, the unit was synchronized with the grid at 23:07. Key operating indicators, including turbine vibration, temperature, and pressure, all exceeded design requirements. All auxiliary systems, electrical systems, and control systems operated in coordination with stable and reliable performance.

During the commissioning phase, restrictions on the load capacity of Uzbekistan’s power grid resulted in limited available commissioning time, significantly increasing the complexity of coordinating multi-system integrated testing. In response to these challenges, the HEI project team strictly implemented the requirements for ensuring delivery performance in international projects. By prioritizing advance planning and adopting lean project coordination, the team maintained rigorous control over both safety and quality standards, ensuring that commissioning activities were carried out in a scientific, efficient, and orderly manner.

The Syrdarya II Project in Uzbekistan is currently the largest natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant project under construction in Central Asia and serves as a landmark project for deepening practical energy cooperation between China and Uzbekistan under the Belt and Road Initiative. Upon full completion and commercial operation, the project will significantly enhance the power supply capacity and operational stability of the regional grid, further strengthen HEI's strategic presence in the Central Asian market, and enhance the global reputation of China’s power equipment brands.
