In order to establish project management and control systems and better execute its contract, HEI convened the opening ceremony for its 500 KV power transmission and ancillary 230 KV line EPC projects in Quito, Ecuador on October 14 and 15, 2013. The event celebrated the construction and launch of operations of HEI’s first EPC transmission line in South Africa. The leadership of Transelectric, which owns the projects, and relevant personnel from HEI attended the ceremony.
During the event, President Geovanny Pardo of Transelectric gave a welcome address in which he reviewed the political and economic cooperation and development between China and Ecuador and extended gratitude for the Chinese company’s generous assistance to the economic development of Ecuador, and especially for HEI’s outstanding contribution to the development of Ecuador’s power industry. Mr. Paúl Villagómez, the project manager, gave a general overview of the 500 KV power transmission project as well as discussed aspects of project’s communication, protection of the environment and social benefits.
Mr. Wang Jianjun, General Manager of HEI’s Renewable Project Division, spoke regarding the preparation of the projects along with the problems encountered and relevant measures taken as well as the plan for the projects’ next stages. Mr. Yu Peng, the Planning Manager of the Renewable Project Division, additionally gave a detailed introduction of the projects’ preliminary survey and design as well as complications encountered.
Various aspects of the projects were further discussed in groups during the event, including management of project, design, construction, planning and control, business, procurement and logistics, health and safety, environmental protection, law, quality assurance and control and other areas. This further clarified the two parties’ respective duties, obligations, and responsibilities in the execution of the contract and laid a good foundation for the successful execution of the projects.
