Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Inspects HEI Bhikki 1180MW Combined Cycle Power Plant |

On Feb. 8, 2017, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan paid a visit to the site of the Bhikki 1180MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project constructed by HEI as the EPC contractor. Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab Province, some important officials from the Ministry of Planning and Development as well as the Ministry of Electric Power of Pakistan accompanied the Prime Minister during the inspection.
At Bhikki site, Prime Minister Mr. Sharif listened to the project progress reported by the First Thermal Power Division. After that, he went to the PEECC of GT #1 and in person pressed the activation button for GT #1 cranking. Therefore, together with his delegation, Mr. Sharif witnessed this significant Milestone for Bhikki Project, which is the high speed cranking of GT #1 at 735rpm.
After the inspection, Prime Minister Sharif had a cordial conversation with Qu Aimin, President of HEI, to thank HEI for its efforts in the Project.
In the following press conference, Prime Minister Sharif made an important speech. First he highly evaluated the highly efficient and high-quality execution of the Bhikki Project and praised HEI for its long-term important contributions to electric power constructions in Pakistan. The Prime Minister pointed out that the construction speed of the Bhikki Project was unparalleled in Pakistan and even the rest of the world. Once completion, the Bhikki Combined Cycle Power Station will greatly alleviate the power shortage in Pakistan, reducing power costs, leading Pakistan's electric power development in the right direction. Finally, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his ardent expectation of the following execution of the Bhikki Project, saying that he hoped to be present at the site to witness the historic moment of the project's synchronization to the grid.
The Bhikki 1180MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project is located 60 km west of Lahore, Punjab Province, Pakistan. The Project has a total installed capacity of 1180 MW and adopts a "2 + 2 + 1" configuration: two 9HA gas turbines, two HRSGs and one turbine generator. The is the first time that a Chinese enterprise build an overseas power plant on EPC basis with the highest efficiency and largest unit capacity gas turbine but shortest construction period. |
