In 2022, HEI signed an EPC contract with Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) for the Manzanillo III Combined Cycle Project. The project is located in the city of Manzanillo, the economic center of Colima state, Mexico, where diverse geographical features such as mountains, hills, plains, and stretches of coastline provide suitable habitats and favorable living conditions for a variety of species.

To protect local biodiversity and ensure the health and sustainable development of the ecosystem, HEI has taken a series of measures during the project’s implementation to minimize the impact of construction.

To maintain local ecological balance and the stability of tree populations, HEI donated 2,178 trees to the local government and replanted 188 carefully selected trees within the plant site. Leveraging the expertise and experience of a professional team, the newly planted trees have thrived and grown vigorously, not only improving air quality within the plant area but also providing valuable habitats and abundant food sources for local wildlife, allowing ecological protection and construction activities to coexist harmoniously.

At the same time, HEI has established a professional team responsible for monitoring, rescuing, and protecting all types of wildlife found on the project site. For animals that may be affected by construction activities, the rescue team has meticulously devised relocation plans, identified suitable habitats, and provided necessary food and protective measures to ensure their survival and reproduction.

Furthermore, HEI has actively conducted publicity and educational activities to raise public awareness and appreciation of biodiversity. Through events held on World Environment Day and other biodiversity protection campaigns, it has conveyed the importance of biodiversity to local employees and residents and encouraged them to participate in conservation efforts. These educational and publicity activities have significantly enhanced local residents’ awareness of biodiversity protection, fostering a positive atmosphere where everyone participates in ecological conservation.
