At 12:40 on June 30, local time in Saudi Arabia, the 1# gas turbine for the Saudi Rumah 2 Project, for which HEI is the EPC contractor, was successfully lifted and positioned. This marks the full commencement of the installation work for the 1# gas turbine, laying a crucial foundation for the orderly progress of subsequent tasks.

The gas turbine is the core equipment of a combined-cycle power plant. The 1# gas turbine for the Saudi Rumah 2 Project weighs 234 tons and is classified as ultra-heavy and oversized equipment, making its transportation extremely difficult. Due to external environmental factors, the originally planned transportation route for the 1# gas turbine was restricted, necessitating a detour. The new transportation route traversed the entire territory of Saudi Arabia from west to east, with an inland transport distance of nearly 2,000 kilometers. The logistics team conducted advance on-site surveys, planned a dedicated route for the heavy haul, and coordinated passage support along the way. Through multiple measures, they mitigated transportation risks and ultimately ensured the gas turbine arrived at the site as scheduled, completing the preliminary preparations for the lifting operation.
To ensure the successful completion of this lifting operation, the Saudi Rumah 2 Project team conducted site investigations and research at several similar projects and optimized the special lifting plan through multiple rounds of discussion. Before the lifting operation, the execution team organized multiple joint on-site inspections and comprehensive acceptance checks, and provided a complete safety and technical briefing to all construction personnel, ensuring the smooth completion of the gas turbine positioning in all aspects.

The Saudi Rumah 2 Project is a core benchmark project in Saudi Arabia’s energy transition layout. Upon completion, it will provide stable power support for the country’s industrial development and smart city construction, making it one of the key projects for implementing Saudi Vision 2030 and promoting economic diversification. The successful completion of this key milestone, namely the positioning of the 1# gas turbine, signifies that the project’s installation work has entered a new phase. Moving forward, the project department will strictly adhere to the safety baseline, control engineering quality, and stick to both goal-oriented and problem-oriented approaches. It will cooperate fully with all participating units to ensure the project is put into operation on schedule and with high quality, creating project “acceleration” with HEI’s strength, and continuing to forge ahead to contribute to the development of Saudi Arabia’s power and energy industry.
