On January 19, 2016, HEI formally won its bid for Hassyan 600MW clean coal power station project (phase II) in Dubai from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). This comes after winging its bid for Hassyan 600MW clean coal power station project (Phase I) for Dubai on October 13, 2015. This is another major breakthrough for HEI in the Middle East Market.
The Dubai Hassyan clean coal power station project plan is made up of three phases. The loading capacity for each phase is 1,200MW. According to DEWA’s Letter of Intent, the first phase and the second phase are to be merged into one project for which construction will begin at the same time. The first unit is planned to go into commercial operation in March of 2020. The successive winning of the bid for the first and second phase of the Dubai Hassyan power stations project has further raised the level of popularity and influence of Harbin Electric Group and HEI in markets of the Middle East and even the whole world, which has laid a firm foundation for the opening up and development of the Middle East market in the future. At the same time, following the successful promotion of investment business, it has also further accelerated the progress of HEI’s transformation and upgrading.
