HEC’s Key Projects Achieve a Series of Major Milestones

Recently, Harbin Electric Corporation (HEC) has made coordinated efforts across multiple areas, taking concrete action to ensure that a number of key projects successfully reached major milestones.

The Syrdarya II 1,600 MW Syrdarya II Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine Power Project in Uzbekistan, a major energy project under the Belt and Road Initiative undertaken by Harbin Electric International (HEI), has achieved a major breakthrough. The first admission of steam to the steam turbine-generator set, turbine run-up to rated speed, and grid connection were all completed within a single day, with the unit smoothly connected to the Uzbek national power grid. Once commissioned, the project will significantly increase the power supply capacity and operational stability of the regional grid, further strengthening the company’s presence in the Central Asian market.

Unit 4 of the SDIC Qinzhou Power Plant Phase III 4×660 MW Coal-fired Power Project, for which HEC supplied the three major power-generating equipment sets, was successfully started up on the first attempt. The unit is operating smoothly, with all key parameters performing well, marking a key step toward achieving the project’s target of bringing both units into operation. As a supporting heat source for the overall planning and industrial development plan of the Qinzhou Petrochemical Industrial Park in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the project is expected to generate 13.2 billion kWh of electricity annually once completed, with a maximum heating capacity of 3,200 tonnes per hour. It will effectively help address Guangxi’s power supply shortfall and optimize the regional energy mix.

The boiler equipment for Unit 3 of the CR Power Yichang Phase II Project, developed by Harbin Boiler Company Limited, successfully completed a 168-hour trial operation. The project adopts a supercritical once-through coal-fired boiler, which is suitable for operation under various variable-pressure conditions and offers high boiler efficiency and reliability. In addition, the company undertook the project’s desulfurization EPC works, denitrification system, and zero-liquid-discharge wastewater treatment system, providing a solid environmental foundation for the unit’s green and low-carbon operation. Once commissioned, the project will effectively enhance the stability and reliability of power supply to the regional grid.

The Huadian Tieling 600 MW Ultra-supercritical Boiler Retrofit Project, for which Harbin Boiler Company Limited served as the general contractor, was successfully ignited on the first attempt. This marks the full completion and commissioning of China’s first ultra-supercritical boiler retrofit project to replace a vertical-tube-ring water-cooled wall with a spiral water-cooled wall.

Large synchronous main motors and supporting auxiliary motors independently developed by Harbin Electric Power Equipment Company Limited have been successfully applied to China’s first 2,400 mm composite aluminum hot tandem rolling production line, the Huafon Aluminum 450,000-ton-per-year Intelligent Manufacturing Project for High-End Aluminum Sheet, Strip and Foil for New Energy Vehicles. The motors feature mature heavy-duty synchronous motor technology, high-strength rotor structures, and high-efficiency cooling systems, precisely matched to the production line’s specialized process configuration. They can meet the production requirements of long-term, uninterrupted high-speed rolling, frequent acceleration and deceleration, and variable-load impact conditions.

The boiler safety valves, power relief valves (PCVs), and steam turbine bypass valves developed by HE Harbin Power Plant Valve Company Limited have supported the successful completion of the 168-hour trial operation of Unit 1 of the Datang Yuncheng 630°C National Power Demonstration Project, the world’s first 1,000 MW coal-fired power generating unit with double reheat at 630°C. The unit has now officially entered commercial operation. With the highest parameters among its kind worldwide, the project was included in the fourth batch of the first (set) major technical equipment in the energy sector designated by the National Energy Administration. Ultra-supercritical thermal power generating units require long-term continuous operation, and under the frequent load-following conditions of new-generation coal-fired power plants, valve performance directly affects the unit’s operating efficiency, safety, and stability. The successful commissioning of the project’s key valves fills a domestic gap in high-end valves for 630°C ultra-supercritical generating units.
