Hydrostatic Test of HRSG Successfully Completed at Bangladesh Anwara 590 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Project

On August 13, local time in Bangladesh, the hydrostatic test of the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) at the Anwara 590 MW Combined-Cycle Power Plant Project in Bangladesh, undertaken by Harbin Electric International (HEI), was successfully completed. The test proceeded smoothly and under full control, with no leakage or abnormal deformation detected in any of the boiler heating surfaces or welded joints. All test parameters exceeded the design and applicable code requirements, marking the successful completion of the test on the first attempt.

The HRSG supplied for the project is the first H-class gas turbine HRSG independently developed and manufactured by Harbin Electric Corporation (HEC). Its successful application marks a milestone in the company's efforts to strengthen its portfolio of high-end HRSG products and expand into the international high-end power market. Throughout the project, the HEI Anwara Project Team faced multiple challenges, including Bangladesh's hot and humid climate, long lead times for cross-border transportation of materials, complex coordination among Chinese and international stakeholders, and numerous technical challenges associated with the first-of-its-kind equipment. In preparation for the hydrostatic test, the team developed a comprehensive test plan well in advance, conducted thorough technical briefings, and implemented stringent safety controls throughout the entire process. A comprehensive inspection of the equipment was completed before the test, with all potential construction hazards identified and eliminated. These measures provided strong technical and safety safeguards for the successful completion of the hydrostatic test on the first attempt.

The successful completion of the hydrostatic test fully validated the structural strength and system integrity of the H-class HRSG, as well as the quality of on-site installation and construction. It marks a major milestone in the installation of the project’s key equipment and lays a solid foundation for the orderly execution of critical subsequent activities, including unit commissioning, complete plant startup, and grid connection and power generation.

The successful completion of the test also demonstrates that HEC has now established a complete end-to-end industrial chain for H-class gas turbine HRSGs, encompassing design, manufacturing, and overseas installation and commissioning validation. This achievement fills a gap in its H-class combined-cycle HRSG product portfolio and significantly enhances the Harbin Electric brand’s core competitiveness and industry influence in the international power market. Going forward, the HEI Anwara Project Team will continue to advance all remaining construction activities in a steady and orderly manner, working to ensure the project is completed and commissioned on schedule. By delivering another high-quality overseas power project, HEI will further strengthen its brand presence and deepen its commitment to the international power market.
