Through the untiring joint efforts of Department of Hydro Projects and other cooperating institutions, a new long-expected objective has been finally realized. Under the witness of the Owner AES-IC, Turkish Employer IC- ICTAS and their supervision engineers, unit 1# and unit 2# of Kepezkaya Hydro-Electric Power Plant successfully achieved the target of full load grid-connected power generation at 18:00 Turkey local time on August 23rd, 2010, and completed 8 items of load rejection tests concurrently.
Kepezkaya Hydro-Electric Power Plant are two suspension Francis turbine-generator units with total installed capacity of 2 × 14.7MW , which have a rotating speed up to 428.6 rpm. Although the capacity is not too large, it is really difficult to ensure the value of vibration and runout to meet the requirements of technical specification because of the characteristics of long shaft and high rotating speed of the units.
