HEI Signed Bangladesh Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant Project

On July 4, 2013, in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, Harbin Electric International Co., Ltd. (HEI) and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) conducted a signing ceremony for the Barapukuria 275MW Thermal Power Plant Project. Chairman of BPDB Md. Abdul Wahab Khan, Political Counselor of the Embassy of China in Bangladesh Mr. Qu Guangzhou, and Vice President of HEI Mr. Zhang Liwei attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.

The Barapukuria 275MW Thermal Power Plant Project is another project HEI secured from BPDB, following the Bangladesh Tonggi and Sylhet projects. The work scope of the contract includes design, procurement, supply, civil engineering, installation, testing and a five-year long-term service agreement. Core equipment will be provided by the three main subsidiary companies of Harbin Electric Group. The Barapukuria 275MW Thermal Power Plant Project is located in northwestern Bangladesh, about 400 kilometers from the capital Dhaka. This project is the coal-fired power plant with the largest total installed capacity in Bangladesh to date and its completion will be of great significance to electricity development in Bangladesh.
