At the 24th International Energy and Environment Fair and Conference (ICCI 2018) held in Istanbul, Turkey on May 2, 2018, the Turkish EREN Zetes Phase III 2×660MW Supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant Project contracted by HEI, a quality power plant project guided by the Belt and Road Initiative, with the boilers, steam turbines and turbine generators made by HE was granted the Turkish Best Coal-fired Power Plant Project Award and HEI as the EPC contractor of the project was granted the Turkish Coal-Fired Power Project Best EPC Contractor Award. HEI has become the first Chinese company winning this award in the past seven consecutive years for which the International Energy and Environment Fair and Conference (ICCI) has be held.

The ICCI held under the name of POWER-GEN is the largest specialized meeting of the Turkish electric energy industry. This year, 225 enterprises from 26 countries including international famous companies such as ABB, GE, Siemens, Toshiba and Foster Wheeler and 25 Chinese enterprises participated in it. A number of awards covering solar power plants, wind farms, hydropower plants, gas-fired power plants and coal-fired power plants were presented at this ICCI and 16 Turkish companies and 26 power projects were granted awards. The award winning of HEI at this ICCI has further promoted its market influence in Turkey, the countries around Turkey and even the whole Europe and it has enhanced the value of the “HE brand”.

The Turkish Zetes Phase III Supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant Project is the first landmark project in the coal-fired power market of Turkey signed by HEI on January 23, 2013 and the first major project contracted by a Chinese EPC contractor in the European market in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. The project has adopted the 660MW supercritical coal-fired power units made by HE. Meanwhile, the wet flue gas desulfurization devices and SCR denitration devices have been built, electric cloth bag dust removers have been adopted and the open direct seawater circulation cooling method of the condensers has been used. The project was officially started in October, 2014, and the first unit was synchronized for power generation in June, 2016. On July 20 and August 27, 2016, two units completed the “72+168” full-load commissioning respectively and were put into commercial operation. In September, 2016, two TOC certificates were issued for the two units and the completion certificate was obtained two and a half months ahead of schedule. The project set a record for the shortest construction period, excellent quality, highest power plant efficiency and optimal emission among the Turkish 2×660MW unit EPC contracting projects, HEI has become the first Chinese contractor to win additional awards from an employer in Turkey and made outstanding contributions to the construction of The Belt and Road Initiative.

In 2017, the gross power generation of the two units of the Turkish Zetes Phase III Supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant Project amounted to 9,512,957,000KWh and the power supply volume was 8,990,893,800KWh. The two units operated for 354 days and 344 days respectively, their maximum continuous operation days were 161 days and 142 days respectively, and all their operation parameters were better than those of the units of the same type in Turkey. The Turkish EREN Energy and Power Company has sent a letter of appreciation to HEI. The letter has spoken highly of HEI’s technical strength and service quality, praised HEI for its true national level qualifications and honored HEI as the preferential Chinese contractor and the best partner for Turkish energy development projects.
